Barking sea lions in West Vancouver announced their return to winter here before returning to California this spring as shared in North Shore News. Apparently a very gregarious bunch with a pungent smell and a bark that, if you make them feel threatened, is not worse than their bite. Experts advise, appreciate these both lumbering but elegant swimmers from a distance of 100m, about one city block, as required by federal law. Their vacation spot is minutes from Lion’s Bay, so neighbours can’t really complain about their choice of location.
